1. EXFOLIATE
For best results, ensure skin is exfoliated and clean, free from any perfume, oils and deodorant. The active ingredient DHA can react with things like alcohol, so it is important you have nothing on your skin. We also recommend waiting at least 30 minutes after showering so that your body temperature has returned to normal before you commence application.
Note: Ensure that you use product sparingly over areas such as the neck, hands, knees, elbows and feet. If you have excessively dry knees or elbows, we recommended applying a small amount of moisturizer to these areas before you begin tanning. This will limit the absorption of the mousse. Moisturizer may also be used to blend product on the top of your hands.
2. APPLY TO BODY
Using Sunescape’s Self Application Mitt, apply 1-2 pumps of mousse to the mitt and begin with one part of your body (e.g. an arm or leg). Then, using quick sweeping motions, blend the mousse into that one area until there are no streaks or untanned patches. In general, one pump per area is usually sufficient but if not, repeat the process with another pump. Sunescape’s tinted formula ensures you can see exactly where you have applied your tan, giving you a perfect application every time. Repeat this for each different area of the body.
3. APPLY TO FACE
Rather than applying another pump of mousse, we recommend that you use the residual product left on the mitt to go over your face. Also make sure to avoid your eyebrows and hairline. Apply a small amount of moisturizer to any areas you didn’t apply the tan to blend the colours and give you a natural graded colour.
Note: Some people prefer not to tan their face, this is a personal preference. Please note if you do apply tan to your face, pigmentation and freckles may appear to be darker so caution is advised. This will go away once the tan has been exfoliated. Due to daily cleansing, the face will tend to fade faster than the rest of your body.
4. DRY
Your hands should be clean if you have used the mitt correctly, however if you do have any product on your palms, make sure to wash off. Allow 5-10 minutes to dry before getting dressed. We also do not recommend you wear white or lighter coloured clothing as there may be some transference of tan onto your clothes.
Avoid perspiration and contact with water for at least 4 hours while the tan develops.
5. RINSE
After 4 hours your tan will be ready to wash off, but you may leave it for a further 4 hours if you wish. When washing, make sure you have a quick rinse, not a long hot shower. This way the tan will continue to activate over the next few hours. We also recommend you use a soap and sulfate free body wash such as Sunescape’s Hydrating Shower Gel
6. MAINTAIN
To maintain your tan and ensure its longevity, we recommend moisturizing every day with Sunescape’s Hydrating Body Butter while continuing to use a sulfate free body wash like Sunescape’s Hydrating Shower Gel.
Note: Do not apply to sensitive, irritated or broken skin. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Bronzing products may stain fabrics or furnishings so avoid direct contact during application. This product does not contain sunscreen, so make sure you protect your skin with a sunscreen when outdoors. External use only.
