After a wild ride of a year, we have finally (somehow) made it to December. It’s peak Holiday Shopping
season, and although this has been a tough year for many people financially, there are still huge
opportunities to sell services and retail products.
Here are a few tips we hope you find helpful:
6 Tips
for Higher
Holiday Sales
TIP #1
Get creative with your offers. Call a peer, ask your staff, seek out innovative ideas. It can be hard to come up with good ideas on your own, and the best ideas often come from collaboration. Some of the best ideas come from unexpected places!
TIP #2
Get your offers laid out ASAP! There are only a few weeks of holiday shopping left and you want to give customers ample time to make purchases (and avoid having customers spend their money elsewhere). Think your offers out thoroughly. Even good ideas can flop if they aren’t planned properly.
TIP #3
Build up the hype. Get people excited and interested by teasing upcoming sales and promotions. This can be really simple
because you have an existing list of customers emails, you have an audience on social media, and some of you will still have
traffic coming into your business.
TIP #4
Use that email list. If you have been building an email list, now is the time to use it! Email is still one of the largest channels for driving holiday shopping sales. Make sure to take advantage of it, and even target last years purchasers.
TIP #5
Utilize your social media. We all know that social media and screen time in general have increased hugely since the beginning of the pandemic. This is a captive audience that you can be selling to through your social media. Emphasize on the performance of the products and your services, show off your best before and after pictures, and hand out skincare tips to provide value to anyone following you. When they know you’re an expert, they will come to you more often and start sending their friends to you as well. Prove your knowledge and expertise.
TIP #6
Optimize your social media. Post regularly and post only high quality images and verbiage. There is an abundance of
mediocre content on social media and you can easily rise above them to grab the attention of a potential customer just by using high quality images. Ideally, 100% of your posts should include a “call to action”, ie “comment on this post if you agree”, “DM me if you’re interested in trying this product/service”, “click the link in my bio for more info”, etc. Link back to your website as much as you can, building website traffic should play a significant role in your social media strategy.
5 Tips
to Build your Reach
on Social Media
Basic Practices:
Tip #1
Post Regularly.
Show your face on your account, share your knowledge, post
before and afters, product knowledge, skin tips, memes, anything on-brand with your business! Content is king when it comes to the Instagram algorithm, so make sure you’re regularly showing up for your followers.
Tip #2
Provide Value to Your Community.
Give them useful information, home care tips, humour, or anything else that provides some level of value to your followers. Think about the accounts that you love and why you love them, this will help you with your own account.
Tip #3
Encourage Likes, Comments, Saves, and Sends.
These reactions will ultimately stem from providing value through your social media. Give them a reason to engage and then ask them to by providing a call to action in your captions: “like this post if you agree”, comment if you’re interested in more info” “send this to a friend who would find this interesting”, etc.
Advanced Practices:
Tip #4
Host a Giveaway on Social Media
Have people follow your account, like the post, and tag a few friends to enter. Award bonus entries if they share in their
stories because the more promotion they can do for you, the better! Giveaway a prize pack, service, or gift cards.
Pro tip: host a giveaway with multiple winners and make the
giftcard amounts just large enough to draw a customer in but smaller than your average treatment price. This way you’re still bringing in revenue and maybe you’ve hooked a new customer
as well.
Tip #5
Incentivize Customers Advertising for You
We’ve all seen influencers posting about their favourite places and products, using customers to marketing you on social media is a very similar idea! Ask them to do it and reward them for it. “Post about our business, your experience at our spa, or your
favourite products from us and get $10 off your next visit”
